18 Months

Pete is officially a toddler.  It’s scary that he is no longer considered an infant, let alone a baby.  I cannot believe that he is 18 (almost 19) months old already!  As much as I miss Pete being a baby, he is at such a fun age now.  He talks all the time and one of my favorite things is listening to him wake up in the morning.  His eyes pop open and he instantly starts talking (usually about dump trucks, school buses, fire trucks or ambulances – he is such a boy) in his sweet little voice until he calls for Mama or Dada to come get him.  He is a mischievous little guy sometimes and I found him like this after a nap the other day:

Pete is sweet, funny, and such a happy guy.  He is always saying hi to people and his voice is so cute but can be so loud at times.  He tends to repeats himself until he gets what he wants and a common occurrence is at the grocery store when he sees someone he wants to talk to and says “hi. hi. Hi. HI. HI. HHHIII” until said person acknowledges him.  Then he usually gives them a big smile and a wave and moves on to his next target.  He loves the ladies and is such a flirt.  He also loves to look at pictures of himself and watch videos of himself on our phones.  I take full advantage of this because it’s guaranteed cuddle time, which I cannot get enough of.

Pete’s been a busy guy and learns so much every day; he’s like a sponge.  He hears something once and then it seems to be committed to memory.  He knows all his body parts but is particularly fond of belly buttons.  Kris and I were watching an infomercial for an exercise video the other day and when the trainer patted someone’s pudgy stomach, Pete yelled “ding dong!” and then laughed like crazy.  He cracks me up.

Pete loves to mimic other people, he loves to be in on the joke and he loves, loves, loves Bailey.  They are best buds and we are so lucky that she is so tolerant of him.  I love watching them together and am so happy that we have a Bailey for him to grow up with.

Pete is a huge fan of bath time and asks for a bath at least three times a day.  We limit him to just one, but he spends as much time as possible splashing, swimming and playing with his toys.  Then it’s pajamas “jam-jams”, books and cuddle time.  Pete’s so affectionate and I’m trying to savor every minute of it, because I know it won’t last.  When he’s hurt, scared (or getting in trouble), he opens his big blue eyes as wide as can be and asks for a hug.  It’s impossible to resist, and I am pretty sure he knows it.  Luckily for all of us, we’re happy to oblige!

Halloween 2012

I am writing this almost a month after Halloween, but I figured better late than never.  Pete was Cookie Monster for his second Halloween.  We celebrated over the weekend by going to Spooky Zoo at Roger Williams Park with the Farrells and Rocks.  The kids wore their costumes, got to see all the animals at the zoo and go trick-or-treating.

Pete had a love/hate relationship with his costume.  He would see it and ask to give it a hug, but the minute we tried to put it on, he would start crying and say “off, off” and  “all done, all done”.  He wouldn’t like it for a few minutes and then would settle out and be just fine. Our Halloween night adventures were very short-lived.

And then all is good again:

Pete’s grown quite a bit since his Yoda days last year:

Pete’s 1st Red Sox Game

Pete went to his first Red Sox game on Sunday!  We met Nana, Grampa and Auntie Liz at Fenway and had so much fun.  Pete hadn’t napped all day, so I was a little worried about how he’d do, but he loved it and lasted almost 7 innings.  Since the Sox are terrible aren’t doing so great, it wasn’t crowded, which was perfect for us.  Pete was able to wander around a little bit without bothering too many people. He was so cute.  I think he was a little taken aback by all the clapping when we first got there, but then he got really into it. He clapped like crazy when Pedroioa hit a home run and he started dancing to all the player’s introduction songs.  He said “Go Sox!” a lot and got so excited a few times he could barely contain himself.

I love seeing things though Pete’s eyes.  He’s such a curious little guy and it is so awesome experiencing new things with him.  I’ve said it before, but Pat and I both marvel at him on a daily basis.  At the end of the day, we collapse on the couch and remark about how great a kid Pete is.  How he amazes us every single day.  How incredibly lucky we are to be his parents.   A daily comment from one of us is “our son is awesome”.  We may be slightly biased, but he really is just an awesome kid who we are so incredibly proud of and love so much.

UPDATE: Per request, smaller collages so the pictures are bigger 🙂

Wedding Weekend!

I can’t believe Kristen and Shay’s wedding was almost two weeks ago already!  It was such a perfect weekend and I am so sad that’s it over.  I’d been looking forward to it for so long and it always amazes me how quickly time flies by – especially when you’re having fun.  Kris planned an amazing weekend and was truly a beautiful bride:

Pete and his cousins Quinn, Reece and Lena were in the wedding too and did a great job. The plan was for the four kids to walk down the aisle together, but rehearsal didn’t go as planned.  Pete threw himself to the ground crying and decided it was just too much to handle. We didn’t have high hopes for the ceremony, but Pete was a great little ring bearer and made it (most of the way) down the aisle before finding his Nana!  Kris’s friends Stef and Gavan shared this video, and I cannot stop watching it.  You can’t tell that two seconds before Gavan started shooting, Pete had thrown himself to the ground, refusing to walk. But Quinn and Reece waited for him and by the look on his face, I’d say he was pretty proud of himself!  I was behind him crying, because I too was pretty darn proud.  He’s just so cute.

Pete was exhausted after his big job, and less than cooperative taking pictures. He missed most of the organized shots, but my mom got a few of my two favorite boys that I love!

It really is hard to believe that Kris’s big day is over.  We had so much fun with all our families together and I loved getting to watch Pete with his cousins.  He had a lot of fun with them and I hope he gets to see them again soon!

Congratulations Kristen and Seamus!!  We’re so excited for you guys and so happy that we were part of your big day!

Pete at Play

Pete’s had a pretty busy week playing.  He loves to play and usually before I’m finished changing his diaper in the morning, he’s saying “play, play?” Here are some pictures of his adventures:

We’re headed to the Cape this weekend, so I’m sure there will be lots more fun in store for the little man!

15 Month Update

It has been way too long since I last posted.  Pete’s had a very busy month with lots to report.  He is now 15 months old, weighs 24 pounds, 2 ounces and is 31 inches tall – more than half as tall as his Auntie KK!  He talks a lot and has so many new words. He likes to point out noses and toes and loves to try and put shoes on himself or anyone else around.  He loves to sing and dance and is such a happy-go-lucky boy. Every day is something new and exciting and his cuteness just overwhelms me.  He is still shy at times, but once he warms up, is such a ham.  He is just the best and Pat and I marvel at him on a daily basis. He is so great and so much fun.

I think the biggest update to report is that Pete is officially walking!  He took his first truly solo steps on July 7 when we were up in Maine:

He took them on the dock of all places and hasn’t looked back since.  This video is from a couple of weeks ago at the Cape, and it’s amazing how much more steady he is already.  I had been so excited for him to walk and it really is the cutest thing.  He still looks like a drunken sailor sometimes, but gets stronger and more confident every day.

It’s been a busy month for all of us; we spent a few days at the Cape on our own and had a great time at the beach and hanging out with Pete.  He got to use his swing, and his laugh is one of my all time favorite sounds:

More pictures from the Cape:

I think that’s it for now.  I will hopefully have some pictures of Pete’s visit with his cousins to post soon! And will try to be better about posting more regularly!

Beachy Keen

We had a great weekend at the Cape with Pete and spent lots of time at the beach!  Experiencing new things with Pete is incredible … he is so excited by everything around him and I love getting to see the world through his big, blue eyes.

I know Pete will probably hate me for his outfit someday, but that’s okay.  Hopefully he’ll look back and know that we just loved spending time with him and getting to hang out with him … when we weren’t at the beach, Pete spent most of his time being spoiled by Nana, Grampa and Auntie Liz and testing out Pat’s rocking horse and rocking chair from he was little:

We had so much fun and Pete was a tired little boy when we got home.   Here’s my favorite picture from the weekend … his dad makes him laugh like no one else can!
